
Each GROOVE Dance session consists of a collection of amazing songs and music tracks. The first song invites you to settle in, relax, and connect with your body, the space, and the music. The following songs engage you in movements designed to warm your body up and be ready to dance for the rest of the class. After your body has warmed up, we will dance to different styles, with diverse rhythms and patterns, to enjoyable tracks. At the end of the class, we will dance to the songs that will help to cool your body down and bring you to stillness and relaxation.
The sessions are usually 50-60 minutes long in person and online (over Zoom). No prior dance background or experience is needed. You don’t have to use your video in online Groove sessions, but it is strongly encouraged to share the camera to connect with me and other dancers for the best possible experience!
In every Groove session, you will experience:
* a wide range of music styles and genres from Latin, Pop, Waltz, and Electric, to meditative, romantic, and soulful tracks;
* a gentle warm-up to prepare your body for a full range of motion and a more dynamic movement;
* gentle coaching to help spark your creativity and deepen your connection to the music;
* opportunities to express a variety of simple rhythm patterns and tempos in a way that feels authentically good in your body;
* moves that will get your heart rate up, help you build strong muscles & bones, improve your balance, and increase your flexibility;
* connection with others through shared movement;
* relaxing cool-down songs followed by a few minutes of stillness to help your body activate its natural restoration and recovery processes;
* and a wake-up song to inspire you for the day and upcoming week.
